General Description:
The successful candidate for the counseling position will be 
responsible for the following activities and programs. Position open 
until filled.

• Provide professional individual and group career counseling 
using techniques grounded in counseling theory and student 
development philosophy

• Guide students with job search skills such as resume and 
cover letter writing and interview techniques

• Conduct workshops and seminars on topics including: Resume 
Writing, Interview Skills, Job Search Techniques, Internships, 
Job Etiquette, etc.

• Administering and interpreting various self-assessment 
instruments, career-related/vocational tests, inventories and tools 
to determine student’s career-related potential

• Coordinate and manage on-line job board (College Central 
Network)

• Conduct research on job placement through the collection and 
analysis of student data

• Assist the principal investigator in data collection

• Outreach to community based agencies and non-for profits to 
explore experiential learning opportunities

• Assist in the development and revision of survey measures to 
assess program services

• Perform data analysis for the purpose of assessing the 
relationship between service utilization and student outcomes

					

Other Duties:
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director.


					
Salary:$35,000 - $37,643

Core Competencies/Qualifications:
Candidate should have a minimum a Bachelor’s degree (Masters Degree 
preferred) in counseling, psychology, or related field with 
experience working with career guidance in a higher education 
setting. The candidate should possess good computer skills, as well 
as the ability to initiate projects. He/she must be able to 
demonstrate good organization skills, positive interpersonal skills, 
and excellent communication skills. He/she must have strong internet 
experience in the use of technology in career services. The 
candidate must be able to work with students, faculty, staff and 
representatives from the corporate world. In addition, it will be 
essential for the counselor to demonstrate administration abilities 
and experience, as well as a strong ability to prioritize tasks. A 
demonstrated commitment to excellence in delivering services to 
students is essential. Evening hours may be required.
