Title: Research Associate Department: Levich Institute Location: City Issue Date: Tuesday, October 06, 2009 PVN Number: REA-973 General Description: The Levich Institute of the City College of New York has a postdoctoral research position available in connection with a recent NSF PREM award, which funds a collaboration between us and the University of Chicago MRSEC. The general area of research is the dynamics of particulate and heterogeneous materials, and this position will focus on theoretical and computational aspects of interfacial phenomena. Possible specific topics include the evaporation of suspensions, the dynamics of drop impact and liquid splashes, and the evolution of microscopic liquid films on wetting patterns. Relevant computational techniques include lattice Boltzmann, molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo methods. Further information is available at http://www-levich.engr.ccny.cuny.edu/. Other Duties: N/ASalary:$40,000 - $50,000/year Core Competencies/Qualifications: Candidates should have a Ph. D. in engineering, physics or applied mathematics, with experience in fluid mechanics, soft matter systems and/or nanoscale phenomena.
