Social and Environment Vulnerability in Disasters
Through a one-year, $60,000 NSF award, Social and Environment Vulnerability in Disasters, Professor Gorokhovich conducts vulnerability analyses. A geologist who studied landslides and coastal erosion, he examines disaster data (earthquakes, tsunamis, etc.) to determine the distribution of affected populations. “We hope to present a methodology related to natural hazards that can be used in determining effective post-disaster management as well as collect vulnerability factors for future mapping.”
