Professor Banerjee, a mechanistic scientist who has been with CUNY for 14 years, has received millions in sponsored research awards. He recalls receiving $35,000 for his first sponsored research project. He currently conducts research in the field of neuroscience and brain development through his $250,000 NIH award and advises junior faculty, “Do your research and find out whether funding agencies have funded grants in your area of specialization.”
